Merry Christmas to All

I offer a fond Merry Christmas to any readers out there (not a happy holidays, if you're offended- you're likely not a reader of this blog anyway). This is likely my last blog post until the new year.

I have a number of game related activities planned for my vacation from work this year. My son and his girlfriend will be visiting and we'll get in at least one (and likely more) Tomorrow's War battles. It's a fantastic game and will make a wonderful last minute gift for any wargamer one has forgotten about.

In our case, we'll be making up our own armies using all the 40K miniatures that my son bought over the years. For the first time ever he'll be able to use those Imperial Guard figures to represent something more than a semi-soviet style mob of cannon fodder. The whole character of the game will different.

System does matter, when you're actually playing it.

There is little doubt that we will be doing something on the RPG scene, but it's sort of a secondary concern this year. Likely Superhero or Shadowrun (using HERO System) or maybe something in Claymore (using Age of Heroes). I'm going to see what they're interested in this week and start making plans.

I hope everyone has a great time, see you in 2012.

Very few people are actually offended by someone wishing them a "Merry Christmas" when it's done as a genuine gesture of friendship. When people say it aggressively as some sort of counter-offensive to the wholly fictitious "War on Christmas" (usually accompanied by some sort of disclaimer about how they very intentionally did not say "Happy Holidays") it's still not offensive - just a good sign that you're probably dealing with an asshole.

Do you actively want Jews to not enjoy their holidays, or are you just giving them some sort of silent treatment? Either way - asshole.

So since that's obviously what you celebrate, a Merry Christmas to you, and to all the unknowns and all the people of other faiths and to everyone who just wants some time for relaxation and fun, Happy Holidays!

Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year. :-)

Matthew I wish the war was fictitious, but sadly you are proof enough of the widening hatred of Christian symbols and principles.

You... and Joesph over at Greyhawk Grognard.

As for the Jews, of course I include them, unless they were foolish enough to take offense. (I don't recall ever encountered one who did). That's why I said "any readers" and not Christian readers.

But I know that went flying over your head.

BTW, You're approaching virtual stalking now, don't you have anything better to do?

Hey, guess what? The cool thing about a public blog is that I can delete your name calling and insults with a mouse click.

Or enable moderation and just not let you post here again.

You see, it's my soap box and I don't have to let you stand on it.

Consider this your last chance to engage in a exchange in a respectable way. No more name calling, no more ad hominem attacks. If that's all you're interested in- head over to someplace like therpgsite and whine till you burst from joy.

Here you will behave, or I will kick you out.

Thanks very much for the Christmas wishes! I'm a frequent reader, and your experience and insight have changed the way I think of gaming. I look forward to future posts - and to the availability of AoH 5.0. I hope your Christmas is going well!
